Progress to health
Progress to Health believes in empowering all people who experience mental illness to maximise their potential. This non-government organisation provides a range of mental health and disability support services to help people identify their needs and goals and work towards meeting them.
The need to provide real time secure information, often to multiple staff members supporting the same person led Progress to Health to explore options for electronic data collection systems two years ago. However, at the time they could not find a system that met their needs, was easy to use and affordable.
A year down the track with the introduction of PRIMHD reporting requirements, they began to collect data using a paper based system but as soon as compliance manager, Angela Meyrick, heard about the launch of Wild Bamboo and Recordbase she was on the phone ready to find out more!
Progress to Health implemented Recordbase in 2010. Angela says that everyone in the organisation has seen the benefit of using Recordbase. At a compliance level she is able to perform a weekly audit to identify any gaps in the data before they become too big. Recordbase has also been great for identifying trends as to who is accessing services and in identifying groups to target with information about services.
As for those working with people in the community, Angela describes them as “like kids in a candy shop” when it came to the training on Recordbase. They just couldn’t get enough. Like most organisations Progress to Health have had some staff that have been slower to adopt the technology but, as Angela says, with Recordbase “you don’t need to have a technical mind, just an open mind”.
Angela and the Progress to Health team couldn’t be happier with their choice of Recordbase and Wild Bamboo. “I can’t fault the co-ordination, planning and support that Wild Bamboo provided.”
